First Aid Bag

My 10 minute make today!

Whenever we go away for a few days I find myself throwing first aid things, medicines etc in at the last minute to anywhere I can find a space, so I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have everything all in one place in a handy little bag.  

Yes!

So here it is, not very exciting but extremely useful.

Zip Pouch Bag

Recently at work I've been struggling to get my hands on things right when I need them...pencils, highlighters, sharpeners etc so I decided last week it was time to make myself a little pencil case so all my essentials are right at hand when I need them.  I think the last time I had a pencil case must have been at university, so that's going back a while?!



Anyway, I got this lovely notebook for Christmas and it's been sitting on a shelf waiting to be used, just sitting there looking all pretty with those colourful hearts that I just can't resist, so there was the inspiration for the bag - hearts!









I cut the hearts freehand so they're all different sizes and the best thing about them was that I raided the scrap bag and managed to find all these lovely bright colours without cutting into more fabric.

The lining is bright pink and the zip is red and to finish it I tied a little loop of ribbon through the zip with some colourful beads.

This week at work I'm going to have everything all in one colourful little place, yeah!!

Little Bags for Little Girls (or big girls!)

I first started making these little bags a couple of years ago to join in at my sister's annual Christmas craft fair, really just for a bit of fun.  
I made four or five the first time and they all sold - what a lovely buzz that was!

The next year I made another couple and so on. 

I also occasionally sew them as gifts for friends.











The craft fair is just a small get together at one of our houses and we invite family and friends over for a look and a cuppa so it's quite a social event.
  

This will be the fourth or fifth year I think so I've made another few.

Halloween goody bag with glow-in-the-dark cobwebs!

A little bag to either give treats or collect them!

This is a glow in the dark cobweb fabric, lined with bright orange cotton.

On the front of the bag I stitched a spider body with pipe cleaner furry legs and then just glued on googly eyes instead of sewing them - as I was feeling lazy.

When you're done just fill with goodies.....Happy Halloween!

Reversible play mat

Following on from the farm play mat, and Monty's new interest in cars, and also from a recent family lunch out (trying to keep him entertained), I decided to make a play mat that can fit in a bag, roughly the size of a large table mat, that can go everywhere with us. 






It's not easy to make a lot of roads with such a small mat so a figure eight shape seemed best. 

I had this fabric with colourful hills and houses and thought it might be nice to cut around the shapes in the fabric rather than cut straight lines across it.  Then I just stitched around the shapes.

To keep it all together I made a drawstring bag in similar colours - roughly A4 size including a 1cm seam allowance and enough for the fold to encase the drawstring.

And to make it even more fun, I made it reversible with a dinosaur side!  I made a little water hole for the dinosaurs and stitched some other dinosaurs around the edges. 

The bag holds the mat, a little car and helicopter and three pocket sized dinosaurs. 

I think we should lunch out again soon just to test it!

Birthday Cards

I can't believe the price of greetings cards these days!  So every now and then I have a go at making my own.  I wish I could be more organised and do it for everyone or have a stash that I can just dip into when I need one. This one was for a special little girl in our family.  I made the bag first and then the card to match.  It's just coloured paper cut into the number shape with tiny felt circles glued on.  Simple!
