More Numbers!

I wonder if you remember the numbers I made a while back for my little boy's room?  

Here they are....lovely colourful numbers from 0-10.  

They hang in his room but can be taken down if he wants to play with them.

This time I was making them for my little girl's room and although I was trying not to go all pink and girly, it's difficult not to!

I still made numbers from 0-10 in co-ordinating fabrics but changed the colours on the back to pale pink or cerise pink for odd and even numbers.  

Just a little extra and self checking activity for when she's at that stage.  Ok, I know that's many years off yet!

Number Stars

I've been making some resources for my new classroom and found inspiration for these number stars in the inside sleeve of a book I recently bought. 





'Time for Tea Polly Wally' by Kali Stileman is a lovely story about a tiny bird with a rumble in her tummy.

The book has beautiful, brightly coloured illustrations throughout, with lovely flowers, birds and butterflies as well as the animals that feature in the story.

And here are my stars inside circles with numbers added on top.   I just used coloured paper and drew around some numbers templates.



Hope the children like them too!

Number Pebbles

For my new class after summer.....now I just have to make a little bag to put them in.

A pack of Sharpie Markers, some pebbles and a little gloss coat of PVA.  

Job done!

Fabric Numbers

I made these for my little one's room to hang like bunting and just to look pretty but they will also serve a useful purpose as he grows up. 

Ordering Numbers

For now they just decorate his room and familiarise him with number shapes but in time to come they can be used for a whole load of number games including ordering, find the missing number, identifying odd/even numbers and using the numerals together to make new numbers.  

There are endless other possibilities that they can be used for but I'll come back to that when the time comes!

If you want to have a go this is what I did....

I cut out paper templates and simply drew around them with a pencil onto different coloured squares of cotton fabric (the wrong way round so you don't see the pencil marks).  The reason for the squares is that it's far easier to sew around the number shape and then cut it out.  I sandwiched some wadding in the middle to make the numbers a bit firmer.  After I stitched them I cut them out with pinking shears.  That's it!  
You can use the same idea to make letters and names too.
