Texture Treasure Basket

Treasure baskets are great fun for babies and can be easily created with things that you have just lying around the house.  There are so many different kinds that you can make but the first one I am posting is a sort of texture/natural one.

Babies love to touch and play with the objects - they may take them out one at a time and examine carefully, throw them to one side or just tip the whole lot out in one go but you can be sure that they will put the items straight in their mouth so make sure everything is clean and safe and never leave them unattended while playing.  More to come!

Baby Play Cubes

These are so easy and so quick to make and are great to give as gifts to little ones.  You can make them as big or small as you like and use any combination of fabric scraps you have.

To enhance the sensory experience, stitch in some ribbons - I used a variety of textures, colours, widths and patterns.

You could try different fabric textures too such as towelling or corduroy.  I tucked a bell inside but have found that it can be difficult to actually hear a regular bell against the stuffing so I tried a cat's toy with a bell inside and it works perfectly!

I triple stitched the ribbons for safety reasons - you can't take any chances with little ones.

What you need:

• Six squares of fabric with 1cm seam allowance around each side
• A variety of scraps of ribbons
• Toy stuffing
• A bell or rattle is optional
