Pretty Hanging Hearts

It seems like ages since I made something a bit girly and I miss pink, pastels and lace!

I've made similar hearts to these many, many times - in fact pretty much every year for the last few years for our little family Christmas craft-fair-get-together.

I had planned to use Christmas fabrics and then decided white would be nice for a change with a little bit of colour detail.







They're just decorative, hanging hearts but in the past I have filled them with lavender so they smell lovely too.

If you want to make one, just cut a heart shape the size you would like the finished heart to be and then add a seam allowance all the way around - about 0.5-0.75cm is enough.








Now cut two hearts from your chosen fabric and then stitch any detail (fabric, buttons, lace) to the right side of one of the hearts.  

Now put right sides together and stitch all the way around, joining the hearts together, leaving a gap big enough to turn the heart through.

Fill with toy stuffing and then hand stitch the opening closed and then sew on a ribbon loop.

DIY Art

I was looking for a picture a while back for our bathroom and couldn't find anything in the colours I wanted that I liked so I decided to create something of my own.

Being a bit of a collector of hearts, it funnily enough turned out to be a picture with hearts in different shades of beige, pink and greys and worked nicely with the colour scheme.

More recently I was looking for something for the lounge and remembered creating the hearts before so I looked them up on the lap top and just played around with the colours and this is the result.  It's not anything wow, but it's simple and the colours are cheery and I like it.  

And it was free which is always a bonus!




I created it using Smart Notebook software which is really easy to use and (I think) free to download. 

Felt Hearts

Just for a bit of fun for Valentines day....some little felt hearts all ready to be hung up!

I made these over the last two evenings just for something to do.   We were away for a couple of days on a short break and I find it really difficult to just sit and do nothing so I always pack a little something just in case I feel like doing some sewing.  So this was the result.....super cute but where to hang them?
