Polar Bears in the Snow

Happy New Year!

It's been a crazy-busy couple of months with the arrival of our little girl and so time has been quite limited for crafty things, but we have still been busy with lots of simple play ideas.

We've used the polar bears before with blocks of ice but this time we set up a little small world scene using a baking tray covered in foil, some pebbles and shaving foam.  We also (later)added silver confetti snowflakes for added fun.

The polar bears look quite at home and this little activity was enjoyed well too as it was played with for a couple of days in a row.

Construction Site Small World

Today we were inspired when reading our Hide and Seek book to make our own construction site.  The construction page is Monty's favourite in the book and the one he always goes straight to.

 
So we gathered up some building blocks, pebbles construction vehicles and a big piece of yellow fabric to represent the sand.  We could easily put all this stuff in the sand pit too which would be loads of fun but as we were playing inside today, this was far less messy.



We also found some tools and signs to add to make it all even more realistic.
When he is a bit bigger we can make our own signs and traffic cones too.


This was great fun and very quick to set up and you'll notice that he was keen to add his own touch - did you spot the large car transporter in the middle?!

Miniature Garden

We had some new turf laid recently and had a bit left over so rather than chuck it away, I put it in a big tray and, hey presto...a real miniature garden with proper growing grass!

Add some flowers, pots, pebbles and garden equipment for some small world gardening fun.  You could also add play insects and butterflies.


Or you could turn it into a field with some farm animals.....

........or add some big rocks and leaves and create a dinosaur world. 

Think I better get the scissors out soon though, this grass needs a trim!
