Old MacDonald Stick Puppets

These came about by accident as many things do when we start to play and make.

I bought these animal sticky shapes a while back in one of those bargain stores for next to nothing. 

The quality of the images isn't great but they're good enough for collage/sticky pictures, especially considering the price.




We had a whole load of crafty 
bits and bobs out today including these and I just happened to peel off the backing of one of the animals and stick it on a lolly stick.  


We were happily playing with them but the back was still mainly exposed and very sticky so to cover up the sticky bit I just cut out some colourful circles and stuck them on which worked well.....

Before we knew it we had made a whole set as well as a cup to hold them all!

We've been singing away today, and not just Old Macdonald.....

What about making some more pigs and telling the story of the 3 Little Pigs, or singing This Little Piggy, Baa Baa Black Sheep or Giddy Up Horsey?

Valentine's Water Play

Super simple water play fun....

Hearts, petals, confetti and some spoons and containers for pouring and filling.

The only thing we forgot was glitter! 

Valentine's Sensory Bins and Coloured Rice

I've been meaning to try making coloured rice for soooooo long but all the instructions I found involved using alcohol and what seemed like rather complicated and laborious lists of things to do.


And then I found a super simple one.

Basically, you just put the rice in a box with a lid, sprinkle on some food colouring and give it a good shake and then lay it out on a baking tray to dry.  It really was that easy!

Since we're close to Valentine's Day I made up a red and pink sensory bin with all things hearty and lovely.

It's definitely something I'll do again in different colours as all that pouring and filling was great fun.




....and here's another basket idea for babies, full of red things to look at and investigate.

First Aid Bag

My 10 minute make today!

Whenever we go away for a few days I find myself throwing first aid things, medicines etc in at the last minute to anywhere I can find a space, so I was thinking, wouldn't it be nice to have everything all in one place in a handy little bag.  

Yes!

So here it is, not very exciting but extremely useful.

Collage Snowmen

I love this activity, it's so much fun and because you don't actually glue anything in place you can keep changing the snowman time and time again.







To make it you will just need a few bits of ribbon and buttons and something for the snowman's body and hats.  

I used craft felt and foam but you could easily use circles of card and I've also seen cotton pads being used.












We also collected twigs from the garden for his arms and used googly eyes from our craft stash.


He's been built on top of turquoise paper because it's a lovely colour and shows everything up well!

Snowy Houses

I made this little snowy play scene in  just a few minutes using toilet tubes, paper cake cases, cotton wool and a black marker....and of course I threw in a handful of sparkly snowflakes.  
Little one has had fun whizzing his cars all around this little village.

Cute Dribble Bibs

I haven't managed to do much sewing for a while now as it's just impossible to find the time to think about what to make never mind actually getting out all the stuff I need, so I was rather pleased to whip these cute dribble bibs up last night super quickly.  They are sooooo quick and easy to do!

I have made similar in the past but used toweling for the back/lining, which I found a bit thick so this time I thought I would try cotton muslin which has worked really well.

I actually just cut up a muslin square - they're so cheap to pick up in the supermarkets and it means the bib is absorbent but not too bulky and I used Velcro to fasten the bibs at the back.
